Creaky Knees Travel– Travels with Rob and Sonya

Hiking in the Swiss Alps below the Bertol Hut.

Another blog by some baby-boomers still trying to prove that it’s never too late to have a happy childhood. We retired a few years ago, and we are still pursuing the activities we love while we still can: hiking, back-country skiing, biking, kayaking, and climbing. As we have gotten older, our goals have changed and we have pretty much turned it down a notch or two, but we still enjoy getting out into the mountains and getting to those places that you can only travel to under your own power. It used to be that as people aged, the view of what was age-appropriate was limited in scope and mainly included watching or sitting. Thankfully, this has changed and people are re-defining what aging can be. My own father exemplified this and was the king of active aging- he traveled to over 50 countries after he retired, most of these after the age of 78! So, in part, this blog is an attempt to continue that tradition, and the first entry will be about Greenland which was a place near and dear to him.

For another perspective on aging and outdoor activities by someone who is/was a far better athlete as well as a far better writer, read: http://www.adirondacklifemag.com/blogs/2012/12/13/into-thin-hair/

This is our first attempt at a blog and we hope that you enjoy it!
